Hamlin Donates Motor Home To MRO

During their time at racetracks all over the country, NASCAR drivers use motorhomes to find respite from the hectic confusion of their busy schedule and stardom. They are often times multi-million dollar mansions on wheels. Far superior to what many fans have in their every day lives, these motorhomes are in deed paradise away from home.

Denny Hamlin recently purchased a new motorhome and he decided to donate his old one to Motor Racing Outreach, an organization that provides religious and counseling services to those who work at race weekends in several series.

"You look for different ways to try to give back, and a lot of people do it in different ways. MRO has been a huge supporter for us," Hamlin said. "They go beyond for the race teams and the drivers."

Hamlin said he hoped the motorhome he donated will help the organization save money on hotels and assist the MRO staff.

"It's just showing our appreciation for them because they're the unsung heroes of our sport."

I am not surprised in the least to hear that Denny has given back to the people that have helped him. That is simply his personality and his character. All too often people get hung up on the petty complaining and scuffles that occur in such a competitive sport and overlook the heart of a person. This selfless act has made me proud to be a Denny Hamlin fan.

Denny is a loving and caring person who has never forgotten the struggles he went through to get to where he is today. He remembers the seemingly unimportant things that make life just a bit less complicated and he has done something to help the people who give so much of themselves.

D Ham would never draw attention to the little things he does without even giving it much thought, but I want his fans and even his critics to be aware of the true heart of my favorite driver. He gets a lot of flack for things that he says in frustration and during the heat of battle and not enough accolades for the good that he does. So from your biggest fan, Denny, Thank You for simply being who you are. Because who you are is beyond amazing.
